365 Media Information Services launches real-time data updating for publishers
Proprietary web-scraping and analysis technology enables publishers to monitor companies, products, executives, events and new prospects in specific industry sectors
February 19, 2008 (San Mateo, CA) -- 365 Media, Inc, the leading provider of database management solutions to the publishing industry, and a major outsourced knowledge services provider to the information industry, has announced the launch of a new, innovative real-time research service targeted at enabling business media and premium information companies augment their current data gathering strategies.
The service enables a publisher to define a target business entity group – either through the provision of an established database, or the selection of specific criteria – and then activate web-based monitoring on that subject to update, enhance or find relevant information.
"We provide high quality research services for many premium information providers and generally work on an annual update routine, based on clients' legacy print and editorial cycles," explains John Tilly, President of 365 Media. "However, more recently we have developed and deployed web-scraping and harvesting technology to augment this process and have now developed the capability to effectively 'monitor' industries and market sectors, and then extract, analyze, filter and update when a change-event occurs such as a new company, new executive or new product launch. This means we can feed these change-events in a data format to our publisher clients based on when the change occurs, rather than when an update is scheduled."
365 Media ensures the right quality standard is maintained by deploying research agents at various parts of the process to check quality, accuracy and relevancy, feeding statistical analysis back into the system to enable it to improve over time.
"Whether a publisher wants to track new companies in a niche market, grow a circulation database by 100% or have its editors fed news alerts daily – this technology solution will do that", says Tilly. "Publishers survive by having the best data and the best data is up-to-date".
The system has already been deployed on a major project commissioned by Experian, as well as utilized by Nielsen Business Media, McGraw-Hill and Informa, amongst others.
